ACT’s “Revamping the Strand” fundraising party

San Francisco society pulled out all the stops to help make the first Halloween fundraising party for the American Conservatory Theater, “Revamping the Strand,” a hair-raising spectacle on Oct. 27,2012. Held at interior designer Ken Fulk’s 7th Street SOMA studio, the four-course dinner ($2,500-$5,000 per ticket) with celebrity chefs was followed by a concert in a tent with Bay Area native Stevie Nicks. Fulk, an ACT supporter, underwrote much of the evening with ACT patrons Jeff and Laurie Ubbens. The benefit, which drew young social media leaders and philanthropists like Vanessa Getty (seen here dressed as Medusa) was expected to generate $250,000 for ACT’s renovation of the Strand, a historic theater in the Mid-Market street area that is becoming home to tech and social media firms like Twitter, Square and others.
