S.F.’s Ken Fulk has new line for Pottery Barn

Interior designer and culture-maker Ken Fulk, who runs the most-sought after design and branding firm in San Francisco and is the darling of the Bay Area’s billionaire social media set, is heading for the mass market with a new collection of furniture and accessories for Pottery Barn available in mid-August.

This is the first time that the national chain has partnered with an interior designer. Fulk, 50, is not a classically trained designer, but is known and loved by his young, freewheeling clients for disruptive designs that combine antiques, modern art and taxidermy.

Details like pricing are still to come, but the line –60 pieces, including sofas, lamps, throw pillows and other accessories — was unveiled at a party at his SoMa offices on June 25, where friends and fans gathered for the unveiling. He staged the furniture in his own living room loft on the third floor, and invited more than 100 guests to try it out, by sitting on it, ogling it and comparing opinions.

Fulk designed the locally renowned Battery social club owned by Bebo founders Xochi and Michael Birch, did interiors for Zynga founder Mark Pincus‘ home and did the wedding of Napster founder Sean Parker in Big Sur and is tackling a remodel of the venerable Mark Hopkins hotel. Other projects have included a private music club in Los Angeles, a winery in Napa Valley, vacation homes in Montana and the design of a forthcoming 226-unit residential tower in New York’s Hudson Yards.
