The client came to us with the idea of a 10-seat, highly curated omakase restaurant featuring an undiscovered star sushi chef he had met in Japan. Scouting the site’s unassuming and badly lit entrance, we accepted the challenge to create an 800-square-foot restaurant that would transport guests to a magical and unforgettable experience. Inspired by Japanese design traditions and the idea of finding an undiscovered hidden treasure, we transformed the challenging space into a mysterious jewel box with dark, glossy millwork, custom lighting and intriguing patterns.
