Sequoia Cocktail Club

San Francisco, CA

A speakeasy-style bar and lounge, The Sequoia is located on the fourth floor of the 1907 Metro Building in San Francisco’s financial district, upstairs from sister restaurant Wayfare Tavern. Inspired by the avant-guards spirit and optimism of the Art Deco era, the central bar was backed with antiqued glass and topped in black marble. Custom seating includes cafe tables painted with backgammon and chess game boards, and deep green velvet banquettes. A historic bank vault in the space was reclaimed transformed into a private whiskey room with a cognac-leather banquette and illuminated lockers filled with glowing bottles of whiskey. The vault’s original metal walls were hand-painted in a malachite pattern—a subtle nod to the color of money in this historic financial setting.
