Where E.M. Forster meets Vivienne Westwood. Our clients—she is the whip-smart lead of a financial tech company and he is a television writer—purchased this storybook English Estate on 5 1/2 acres in Woodside. The 1921 Tudor style home and Thomas Church-designed gardens were originally created as the country estate of a prominent San Francisco family. Our goal was to revitalize the property as an idyllic escape for this vibrant family of five and their various collections. Embracing the historic California garden setting, we began with a base of effortlessly chic, laid-back furnishings and then we inserted a heavy dose of high fashion and rock star details—woven leather, embossed metal, high-gloss lacquer, and at least a dozen collectible designs sourced from Carpenters Workshop Gallery at Saint Joseph’s.
