Gildea and Walker Potteries, Tunstall, Staffordshire England, c. 1881 This unusually shaped Victorian aesthetic 9" X 9" square cake plate is transfer printed in dark brown. The pattern features delightful Japanese geometric designs mixed with exotic palm trees and other tropicals. A shoreline with sailing vessels set to the horizon while a large flock of birds fly by. An inset cartouche of a Rabbit ready to hop or pounce and another inset of a Raven drinking from a jug, Mushrooms on the ground, and Birds in flight.
