The Wedgwood Frog Service collection was commissioned for Catherine's neo-Gothic palace, Kekerekeksinensky Palace, which was built in a frog marsh outside St. Petersburg. The name "Frog Service" comes from the palace's location and the green frog crest that appears on each piece. The service was made at Wedgwood's factory in Etruria, Staffordshire, and painted at his decorating studio in Chelsea, London. The collection took two years to complete and was displayed in Wedgwood's London showrooms in June 1774. This vintage set of 6 pates features 2 scenic patterns shown, Beeston CA and Shepards Lodge ( 3 plates of each) adding a distinctive mix to your table.
