Looney Dunes
The far reaches of Long Island have long been a haven for artists and creatives of all stripes. The historic villages, gentle rolling farmland and painterly seascapes inspired the work of Fitzgerald, Pollock and Warhol, to name just a few. Drawn here too were the Gatsby-like characters— those seeking their own refuge, often in magnificent homes that still stretch out along the bluffs.
In conjunction with expert architect Oliver Cope, we were charged with building something new in this storied setting—a family house befitting its expansive oceanfront locale with a style that would endure for generations. Grand in scale, ideas and ambitions, this house applies classical theories to a modern lifestyle for a beach house to suit all seasons.
